VFW Post 7262 Donates $5,000 to Angel PAWS program

In celebration of the Greenville VFW Post 7262 70th anniversary, the Post has proudly donated $5,000 to the Angels for Veterans’ Angel Paws Program. Post 7262 and Fort GreeneVille DAR member Chris Nehring introduced the Angel Paws Program at a recent Post meeting. Nehring explained that Fort GreeneVille DAR is organizing its 2nd Annual Thank a Vet 5K honoring the 75th Anniversary of WWII. This year the 5K proceeds are going to the Angel Paws Program. Once the Post learned of the Angel Paws Program, they voted on sponsoring a service dog for a local veteran besides being a sponsor of the Thank a Vet 5K/walk. (Signup for the Thank a Vet at https://goodtimesraces.com/newcalendar.php)

Post Commander Bob Klosterman, an Army Veteran, stressed the importance of supporting our Veterans and is glad the Post is able to donate to such a worthy cause to benefit Veterans.

Angel Paws Program Founder Sandra Bohle stated the program provides companion/service dogs to qualifying veterans suffering from PTSD and other disabilities in a profoundly positive way. The dogs can make a significant difference in the lives of veterans who have given so much to our country. You can visit the Angels for Veterans’ Angel Paws Program at http://angelsforveterans.org.

VFW Post 7262 was organized in May 26, 1946 by 208 founding members. In the early years the Post met in the Klepinger Insurance basement on Wayne Avenue. Later the Post moved to the upstairs of the former Sater Lanes building on Sater Street. In 1975 the Post moved to its current location that is owned by the Post. In 1987 the Veteran Memorial Park was established. The moving Vietnam Wall was featured in the Veteran Memorial Park in 1998. Besides the Post members, the Post is fortunate to also include Men’s Auxiliary, Ladies Auxiliary and the Booster members. After 70 years, the Post is still giving back to the community and serving fellow Veterans.
